Puppies coming- Ultrasound saw four babies!

Hello Folks
Happy Canada Day Weekend!, What a great way to start off the morning Dalla (Tofra Dalla, imported from Iceland) went to the vets to get her Ultrasound, and she was in picture perfect health ( we had done a pre-breeding checkup as well) and we could clearly see four babies with heart beats, Its so amazing that you can see heartbeats on the screen..

Normally there are a few more puppies higher up under the ribcage that can't be seen at this stage in the game, so we are expecting a full litter! Yahoo!

Father to this litter is Belglen Riddari, I took a few new photos of him last night and will post them with this email. Thank you so much Sharon for letting me use Darri on Dalla, I can't wait to see what the two of them produce together. This is a linebreeding on Tofra Frigg.

At this time it does appear that we have a full waiting list for this coming litter but we are still taking puppy applications for planned litters in 2007/2008, For more information, please contact me.

Ultrasound Tomorrow!!

Hello Folks

Very excited that we go for Ultrasound on Dalla tomorrow morning! I am so excited, I am seeing signs that she is expecting, but I really love to confirm and see those babies on screen just makes my day..

Updates tomorrow, this week has been very hot but the haying is half done, its an amazing crop this spring, and once again, one cut is enough for all our haying needs so we will have hay for sale on our second cut this year..

Have our first tomotoes in the garden already, just waiting for some of them to turn red :) We have been eating fresh greens for the last six weeks.

Expecting a new litter of bunnies next week and another litter the week after that.. they are new mothers so hope that all will go well.

If anyone is wanting to come to the big Eastern CISC Fun Match with Monika K, please let me know, and book in..

Here is Dalla's last litter of puppies at six weeks, so cute!

Planned Coming Litters for 2007 upate- Breedings are starting :)

Hello Folks

Just a quick note at this time, but wanted to let you know that Dalla and Darri have had a number of breedings to date and this means that we will be looking for puppies around
July 23 give or take a few days.

We are expecting Red/White with Black Mask Puppies from the litter, It is also possable that we might have black tri puppies in the litter. Only time will tell on that one..

We are expecting mostly med coated puppies but there can also be the odd long hair puppy.

The temperment is amazing on both parents.. and we are expecting wonderful temperments on the puppies, as well as wonderful breed type and very typical white markings, white blaze, collars, socks and tail tip.

If you are looking for a wonderful ISD puppy to add to your home, please consider contacting me to get on the waiting lists for the two current planned litters or the waiting list for the planned fall/winter litters. Contact me at isdpuppies@hotmail.com

Yipppeee, Ada is in Heat now as well!!

Hello to all my waiting puppy owners to be..

Ada has now started her heat as well, and the countdown on her breeding begins as well.. Darri arrived on Weds evening, and he is lovely, I will post new photos of him soon.

What to tell you about Darri, well the first thing, is that he has a wonderful temperment, and he is so quiet, I could not be more pleased with both of those, so sweet, and very interested in learning what it is I am asking, and he has thinking eyes, you can tell that he is listening and learning all the time..

He is taller then both females but being a still young man, (just over two) he has some maturing to do, and so the females are in fact a bit bigger then him in terms of overall bone/width of body, and they both appear at this time of the year to be more in coat then he is at this time. He has his summer coat in, and has lots more of his undercoat that is for sure.

Love the harshness to his coat, its so correct for the breed, all in all a lovely wonderful boy and looking forward to his breeding the girls, and more updates to follow.

Breeding litters and Stud updates!

Hello Folks

Well, first the good news!, Tofra Dalla started her heat, so the count down for the first litter to be breed for has began!! yahooo.. puppies, puppies, I am doing the puppies to be dance!! ;)

Black Pearl is in full heat as well, (no Puppies for her!) and I am greatly looking forward to the rest of the females coming into heat over the next few weeks..

Second big news is a change in Stud plans, I will still be using Narri in the future but not in 2006, so I am pleased to annouce that daddy to be will be flying in from Sask, Canada next week to be breed to Tofra Dalla, and Greenstone Ada, will be Belglen Riddari, as you can see from the photos I took of him last year when visiting in Sask, he is a med coated, red/white/Black mask boy.. Cerf Normals (two so far, and will have his third CERF soon), OFA Prelim Fair, and his adult OFA coming soon, but overall good family index of HD free hips. Both Parents, OFA -Good, CERF normal, All four Grandparents tested, Three-A's and One-C. Overall a great family index.
Might carry Black tri, and does carry Pied for sure.. A lovely show marked boy which crossed with my two planned females should produce truly amazing show qaulity puppies in the coming litter.
More updates to follow.

Birth of a Puppy

Hello Folks

Hope you are all having a good easter weekend, ours has been interestings.. so on Friday, my momma dog to be, starting hanging out very close with me, she kept going into the crate in the living room and then coming back out again.. hmmmm

Then she tried to climb under the living room sofa, hmmm, she followed me into the bathroom and openned the closet door, reached up and pulled down towels and layed down with a, "just shut the door will you" look on her face.. so they went into the wash, and she followed me back out, well by nine that night, she was asking me to go downstairs and so down we went..

Labour had started, with some signs of contracts off and on, it was a very normal progress, and we had her set up in her birthbox and boy did she give those towels a good dig and pull session to work out her pain..

Finally at just after 11pm, she got down to business, and got quiet and started laying down and really pushing.. well within a few min, that lovely sound happened.. I don't really know how to explain it, but there is a sound to a dog giving birth and It can wake me up within a heart beat if I was dozing, which I was not at this time, so slurp, slurp and baby starts making noise.. Afterbirth is accounted for, and all is going well.. I can see that its a very dark brown baby with lots of white, but otherwise, I am letting momma bond and keeping a close eye on how its going..

At this point, if all is well, I try and stay out of the way.. and within seven min of being born, puppy number one is nursing and momma dog is settling down a bit.. so at this point its time for a puppy check.
So here is my run though
Sex : Female
Color: Yellow Gene
Pattern: White muzzle, wide White blaze, White collar, White Chest and front legs, White socks on rear, white tail tip
Dewclaws : double on rear, single on front
Check for Cleft: negative
Check for sounds of fluid in lungs: negative
Check cord: looking good
Check the rest of the body: normal
Weight : 13.1 oz or just a touch under 400 grams, nice big active baby.
And then back with Momma dog, and I wait, and I wait, and I wait..and I start to doze off and on, and I wait, and I wait.. and finally, at four am, I have to admit that it appears that all is done and well.. and I have my first single litter of puppies!!
One puppy, a lovely puppy to be sure, but what happened to the rest of the litter.. I know that dogs can absorb puppies, and I have had it before but it was still a big surprise to me, she did not look small enough to only have one puppy, and I know that I am going to have some sad puppy owners to be, but I will be breeding for more litters in 2007, but I am afraid that the wait will be a little longer then any of us thought..
I still can't believe that I only have one!
So here are the newborn non-flash blurry photos of little girl, I managed to sneak them when Momma had to go out for a pee, I will take more in a natural light soon. So the puppy is growing and gaining weight well, Momma dog is doing great, eating well, tons of milk, but very much, I only have one, so is very attached to her.. but we are slowly learning to share, I have never had a single puppy to raise, and I would imagine that I will need to learn a bit about if I need to do anything different for her.
Updates to follow on a regular basis..

Ada will continue her Herding Training this year.

We are looking forward to working with Ada in Agility/Herding and we are looking forward to earning her final four CKC Championship points as well as her CGN title.

Updates on Ada to Follow..

We are planning Ada's first litter in 2007, we are planning on breeding Ada with a lovely long hair stud called Narri from Pineridge Kennels in B.C. Narri just got his CERF normal in March/07 and will be going for his formal OFA x-rays and results in April of 2007. Updates to follow. Narri carries Black tri and Chincilla genes.

This means we should have a very colorful litter, we are expecting med coated/Long coated mix in the litter, and we could have yellow gene (tan to dark sable red brown) chincilla(wheaten or cream colored dogs) and Black tri puppies.

Both parents have nice strong double dewclaws, as well as strong prick ears and well curled tails, Narri should help to greatly improve the coat on the coming planned litter.

We are now taking puppy applications on this coming litter for both Show/Breeding and or Performance and Pet homes. Greenstone Kennels only take six puppy applications per litter, and at this time, we have one Show/Breeder Application on Ada's planned litter, I will update as more information becomes known
