Puppies coming- Ultrasound saw four babies!

Hello Folks
Happy Canada Day Weekend!, What a great way to start off the morning Dalla (Tofra Dalla, imported from Iceland) went to the vets to get her Ultrasound, and she was in picture perfect health ( we had done a pre-breeding checkup as well) and we could clearly see four babies with heart beats, Its so amazing that you can see heartbeats on the screen..

Normally there are a few more puppies higher up under the ribcage that can't be seen at this stage in the game, so we are expecting a full litter! Yahoo!

Father to this litter is Belglen Riddari, I took a few new photos of him last night and will post them with this email. Thank you so much Sharon for letting me use Darri on Dalla, I can't wait to see what the two of them produce together. This is a linebreeding on Tofra Frigg.

At this time it does appear that we have a full waiting list for this coming litter but we are still taking puppy applications for planned litters in 2007/2008, For more information, please contact me.

Ultrasound Tomorrow!!

Hello Folks

Very excited that we go for Ultrasound on Dalla tomorrow morning! I am so excited, I am seeing signs that she is expecting, but I really love to confirm and see those babies on screen just makes my day..

Updates tomorrow, this week has been very hot but the haying is half done, its an amazing crop this spring, and once again, one cut is enough for all our haying needs so we will have hay for sale on our second cut this year..

Have our first tomotoes in the garden already, just waiting for some of them to turn red :) We have been eating fresh greens for the last six weeks.

Expecting a new litter of bunnies next week and another litter the week after that.. they are new mothers so hope that all will go well.

If anyone is wanting to come to the big Eastern CISC Fun Match with Monika K, please let me know, and book in..

Here is Dalla's last litter of puppies at six weeks, so cute!

This is wonderful news for the coming litters at Greenstone Kennel, Also Belglen Risna (full-litter mate to Riddari and Runa) also just got her OFA-Good Results back, so that means that the overall family index on HD-Free hips just keeps going up and up on the the stud dog on our current litters.

Greenstone Dog Show Results/New Health info

Hello Folks

Well, its been a busy weekend, we have done lots of yard/Barn work as always, we also went to a great farm sale, and meet up with some friends of ours at it, and went out a for a nice meal together afterwards. Sunday was a work day in all ways, and lots got done, most of it for critter comfort :) It was my Step-Dad's 75 Birthday over the weekend, so we called to wish him a great day, the big party is when I am out this summer after the Calgary Dog Show in Aug.

My older Brothers company rented a fishing lodge past yellowknife for their shareholders meeting, and my step-father gets to go for his birthday present, flown in on charter to yellowknife and from yellowknife to the fishing lodge on its own private lake for five days, hope he brings home lots of Artic Char, I loved that fish when I lived up north.. hmmm so good..

Three new hatches of chicks in the last few days, so that is a great indeed, and sold my two little does this past weekend, so once they are weaned, off they go to their new home about 25 min away, they are such nice does, I am so glad that I was able to find them a great home as family milkers instead of the other choices.

So Greenstone Boogie Man of Belglen was show in Regina this past weekend, and took Best of Breed Both days, and there is a show photo coming, I will post as soon as it arrives, his handler said that she really enjoyed him and that he was a good boy, so that is wondeful news indeed.

On health news, There was also a CERF clinic at the Regina show and so I am pleased to annouce that Greenstone Boogie Man of Belglen has a new Cerf- normal 06/07

Tofra Dalla, Greenstone Ada and Belglen Riddari are booked to go for CERF renewals on June 19th, so more CERF info coming on that. My own dogs CERFS need to be renewed by the very end of June for this year but the CERF vet is busy and then on holiday's for three weeks, so I guess I will be doing the rest of the dogs either late in July or in the fall, which is fine as to date they are all CERF normal and there is no plans to breed them at this point.

Don't forget for those that are looking at dogs that the CERF page on the CISC is updated as new information comes in thought the year, and the month of the CERF date is listed (starting 2007)

http://canadianicelandicsheepdogclub.blogspot.com/2007/03/cerf-health-results-2007.html

Ada has been successfully breed! Yahoo, and is now out of Standing heat so now we wait for ultrasounds to confirm little ones.. We put Air Conditioning in the attached part of the house, which is the offical dog room per say and the dogs love it, and I am sure it will help with the puppies this year, during the last two years, the puppies that where born over the summer where SO! hot in the house, that on really bad days, we had to take them downstairs to be cool enough to be comfortable, and so this year, we got the air conditioner for them, so that both the dogs can choose to go to the attached "dog room" off the kitchen (its almost a 1000 Sqaure feet, and is part of the house, has hot and cold running water, power, heat, now Air condition etc but its being turned into a just for the dogs area of the house, and its where the dogs go when we leave the house etc. Anyway, I am sure that it will make for some happy little puppies in the hardest and hottest part of summer, now if we could just get it for the rest of the house LOL

Greenstone Black Moon and Greenstone Apollo

Hello Folks

I got some lovely photos of Greenstone Black Moon and his older half-brother Greenstone Apollo last night.. the boys look great, and I got some lovely family shots of them with their owners as well but will keep them in my private photos albums..

Thanks so much for sending the photos, and love the one of them in the kiddy pool.. with both of them being black tri and long hair, I can imgine that they love their pool..

I find it so amazing that Black Moon is already at just over nine months clearly bigger then Apollo, but then again, Black Moon's mother is my big! girl, Oppa, so that helps explain it alot LOL

Love the stack photo of Black Moon, he is full littermate brother to Greenstone Black Pearl, and I love his bone and coat! wow, what a studly boy he is.. Apollo clearly takes after his father.. when I got to see him last summer, it was amazing, what a great boys..
Love it when my puppy owners are so happy with their first ISD that they come back for a second one, I take it as the highest kind of praise a breeder can get.

Greenstone Thunder-New AHBA Herding Title -JHD

Hello Folks

A Huge Congrats to Doug/Deb and Gwen, co-owners of Greenstone Thunder, Deb and Thunder passed their JHD (AHBA) legs one and two this past weekend, earning Thunder's second herding title to date, and he will be starting to to work on his HT titles later in June.

I could not be more proud of Thunder or more grateful to his owners and loving family for all the hard work and effort they have put into their lovely boy! Thanks guys, you are the best!

I have been promised new photos and I will post some to this update as soon as they arrive.. ok so the photos have arrived and wow, has Thunder learned control, no wonder he did it perfect..

So for those that have not been to a herding event, I have tried to show a few things in the photos I selected, so first is Deb and Thunder waiting to be called in..

So Thunder is put on stay, while Deb lets out the sheep, she then needs to have Thunder gather the sheep and bring them to her and then walk them though a gate, and around two different cones and then take them back across the area and pen them, with Thunders help, his job is to listen to Deb and to help control the flock, so in the one photo you see him running, that is at the beginning when he gathers the sheep and brings them to deb, the rest of the time, you see him behind Deb and the Sheep, either following the rear to push them forward on command or in a down stay, while Deb leads the way.
Here is the part from Dougs letter Qoute "JHD is moving sheep through a center gate and then to one of the far corners, to the other far corner and then back to the pen. Thunder sits while Deb pens the sheep and then comes when called. The sheep more or less stay with Deb and follow her around but Thunder provides "pressure" to keep them going. He's judged on his
awareness of and focus on the sheep. He was pretty much flawless and the judges
commented on his performance much the same way they commented on the border collies. The first judge (Leg I) said he's a good reason for her to shift from border collies to ISDs."
