Icelandic Sheepdog Group Placements-Richmond May 2006

Hello Folks

Thought you might like to see this photo as well, we thought it would be a good idea to try and get a photo of BOB BOS and Best Puppy. It was plus 30 and at the end of a long three day show weekend.. the dogs were melting and so were we..

Its not a bad photo by any means :) but it sure would be great if we could have tweeked the dogs a bit LOL.. me and my fussy nature.. I look and wish the one leg was a tiny bit back or that runa's head was level etc, much harder to get three dogs all looking good at the same time, then one dog.

Icelandic Sheepdogs at the Richmond Ottawa Kennel Club May 28th 2006

Hello Folks

Well its sunday evening, and we are just starting to unpack the truck after letting all the dogs have a good solid run in the fields, they earned it. With females in heat, we had to have three different running groups but everyone is happy and tired now. What a weekend, The breed booth was so busy saturday and sunday, its a good thing that we had two couples both helping out. The Ottawa Kennel club has asked if the CISC would like to have a booster next year along with our breed booth, certainly something to look at and consider.

So on with the news :) Once again, seven Icelandics at the show, and all dogs listed. Greenstone Ajay took Best of Breed today for a 3 pt win, making his total points won over the weekend a total of 11, which means that he has enough points to get his CKC Championship!!! A one Show Champion!! Way to go Ajay, handled to perfection by Linda Thompson.

Belglen Runa of Greenstone took Best of Breed for a 3 pt win, making her total points at this time seven, two 3pt wins and a 1 pt win.

In the Females, staying true to form
1st- Belglen Runa
2nd-Greenstone Ada- Reserve Female
3rd-Folda
4th- Tofra Tobba

I was very pleased to see that the judges clearly had read the standard, most having just taken the breed seminar in the last month, and it was nice to see them showing this by picking the top dogs out over and over again.

Greenstone Ada finished the show with six points on her. So we will be working at the Kingston show to finish Ada/Runa's championship.

We had two CKC judges come up and ask, if we would please consider taking Greenstone AJay out as a special so that the judges can become trained in what a really good Icelandic looks like.. What an honor to have judges come up and ask/tell you that your dog should be a special. So who am I to argue on this LOL, So Ajay will also be going to Kingston.

I had a new photo taking today in memory of AJay taking his points that put him at 11. Laura and Scott's little girl took Best Puppy of Breed and we have a family photo taken in memory of this wonderful show. Hope you will enjoy seeing the photos!

Icelandic Sheepdogs at the Ottawa Kennel Club Show May 27th 2006

Hello Folks Well it was a hot one today, but it was a great day. We once again had seven Iceland Sheepdogs entered in the show.. Results posted below. All dogs listed.

Best of Breed -Greenstone Ajay - 3pt win (bringing his total CKC points to eight)
Best of Opposite Sex - Belglen Runa - 3pt win (bringing her total CKC points to four)
Best Puppy in Breed- Belglen Roskva (who also took 4th best in group in puppy sweeps)

Females
1st-Belglen Runa of Greenstone
2nd-Greenstone Ada
3rd-Folda
4th-Dalla

The breed booth was busy, with lots of interested vistors but as lots of interested dogs breeders and number of CKC judges stopped by to leave their cards, and to get a chance to put the dogs on the table and get a chance to "lay" hands on this stunning new breed. Have to charge my battery before we can download photos.. Wish us luck tomorrow, and everyone send thoughts to Ajay to take Best of Breed once again.

Icelandics Sheepdogs at the Ottawa Kennel Club Show May 26 2006

What a day!! I am thrilled to annouce that under renowned CKC judge Mrs Betty McHugh, Greenston AJay went Best of Breed in a class of Seven Icelandics Sheepdogs, and went on to make history with the first group placing in CKC, bringing home a Group Third. I can not begin to tell you how excited and amazed I am to have gotten a group placement on one of my greenstone Icelandic Sheepdogs at this time. I was told over and over again that it would take months to years before a new breed would place in group.

So here is the details

Best of Breed- Greenstone Ajay-3 pt win (Total of Five Championship points to date)
Best of Opposite Sex- Greenstone Ada-3 pt win (for a total of six championship points to date)

In Females
1st- Greenstone Ada
2nd-Folda
3rd- Tofra Dalla Hectordottir
4- Belglen Runa of Greenstone

Best Icelandics Sheepdog Puppy- Belglen Roskva

As Greenstone Ajay took a 3rd in Group, he maxed out his points to a full five point win day!! the most that anyone dog can win in a single day..

All dogs are listed at this time. In regards to what is required to finish a CKC championship, ten championship points, with a min of one two point win and must have points under at least three judges. I have attached the show photo.. Everyone have a great day, and I can't wait to see what the rest of the weekend brings!

It was a cool damp morning and a early one at that up by 5 am and out the door by 6:30 am to make it to the dog show by 8 am. The dogs were excited and it was controlled madness as I was handing out dogs and numbers to handlers, and everyone went off to practice with their own dogs, to find the right pace and movement for them.

So finally into the ring we went, I had to hide so that Ajay could not hear or see me, as like all my dogs, they are attached and the handlers say to attached. So after Ajay went, then comes female class, and as its a class of six females that is big, and I truly wondered who would be placed where, the judge is a known for being big on sound movement and structure as well as type.

I was so proud of my hubby Jason, I had given him Dalla because I didn't think she could place or win because of her loose more open tail etc, but I was so surprised, Dalla did her father proud and hauling Jason to handling classes did pay off, he did her down/back perfect and he moved her out like a dream in the around the ring, and she has really nice sound movement. Folda was being a bit of a brat in that she was sure that she should sit everytime we stopped moving and every time someone walked up to her, but to be fair to her considering she does therapy and that is what I ask of her, I can understand why she did so, still what a pretty girl she was in the ring, still has a weak front end so was pleased and a bit surprised that she took reserve female.

So here is the show photo, We were all so busy in the ring, that we never got a single photo of the group, there is no one left over to use the digitals..

Its been lovely to see Scott and Laura again and to meet their little girl, Let me tell you folks, that is a Icelandic to watch in the future, she is going to ROCK the show ring!!! She has "it" in droves, and her owners and Sharon of Belglen will be very proud of this girl both now and when she grows up. Kolur from Pineridge is her father and he helped give her the most amazing long hair coat, and wonderful black mask.

Pretty Icelandic Sheepdogs all ready for the Dog show

Hi Folks

Well we are back from the spa again today, we took Tobba, Dalla and Ada this morning for their show grooming, and it was a long but good morning.

The girls look amazing! I could not be more pleased with the grooming, Tobba was a total sweetheart as alway, it was the first time Kelly had meet Tobba and Dalla, and she loved Tobba, was just amazed at how pretty she is, and how long her long hair coat is..

I will take photos of all the dogs at the show, Dalla was not as sure, she didn't care for the blowdryer all that much but otherwise did fine, and Ada being the old pro at this now was just as relaxed as can be..

Its a good thing that it was Ada's turn today, not yesterday because Jason took her out for a run last night and she got into the mud, ahh, I had to bath her last night just so she could come back into the house, but she looks like a little lady again.

Will be off to set up the breed booth tomorrow night.
